5 important things to know about WSF/PHP

WSO2 WSF/PHP is a very useful software for PHP developers who is dealing with webservices. There are some important things many PHP developers don't aware about WSF/PHP. Here I list important five points about WSF/PHP that developers and users should know.

  • OpenSource and under Apache2.0 license

It is important to know that , WSO2 WSF/PHP is an opensource product. There are many people out there who scared to see WSO2 name in front of this great product. Or they can't believe WSO2 release such a good software opensource ;)

Moreover WSO2 WSF/PHP is released under Apache2.0 licensing. When it comes to enterprise level, developers would like to go with Apache2.0 licensing because of the freedom it gives. (Well.. Please don't go into detail about freedom here :))

  • WS-* implementation

WSF/PHP carries many WS-* implementations. Namely WS-Addressing, WS-Security, WS-Policy, WS-ReliableMessaging, WS-Eventing etc. It is only PHP pack that have this much features available. If you know better implementation, having more WS-* implementations than this please let us know.

  • Attachment Capability

One can send attachment through PHP webservices using MTOM implementation in WSF/PHP. There is some examples available under WSF/PHP distribution too. It is possible to send and receive attachments in both optimized and non-optimized formats.

  • REST Support

Although PHP Webservices framework based on Axis2/C soap engine, there is good support for REST services too. One can expose his services both SOAP and REST styles. This is one of the important feature that draw many users towards the WSF/PHP.

  • Interoperates

It is proven that WSO2 WSF/PHP interoperates with Microsoft .NET, WSO2 WSAS (Apache Axis2/Java based Web services application server) and other J2EE implementations. The basic SOAP level interoperability as well as WS-* specification implementations have been tested and proven to interoperate.
